The Indonesia-Australian Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (IAFCP Facility) is the implementation mechanism for the Indonesia-Australia Forest Carbon Partnership. It is funded through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the Department of Climate Change (DCC) and will run from mid-2009 until 30 June 2012. Reviews of the programme are expected after COP15 of the UNFCCC, which takes place in December 2009, and in 2012. Australia’s contribution to the global effort on REDD is the International Forest Carbon Initiative (IFCI). IFCI aims to demonstrate that reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries can be part of an equitable and effective international outcome on climate change. A central element of work is the development of practical REDD demonstration activities in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Planning and delivery of the IFCI involves a whole-of-government effort, led by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the Australian Government Department of Climate Change (DCC).
